How to say ‘I think’ in Saudi Arabic

conversation

Today you’re going to hear how to say I think in Saudi Arabic.

New words:

  • I think

Sample sentences:

  • I think I’ll go to sleep now.
  • I think you’ll fail your exam.
  • I think it’ll rain tomorrow.
  • Zain Ezazi

Hello, Salam, does can someone tell me what the ra7 stands for in all these sentences?

  • Gregory Askew

أتوقع here is being used in two senses, one of them which may be incorrect? I have come to understand أتوقع to mean “I expect”, not “I think”, and in the last two examples “I expect” would be perfectly sufficient for the meaning: #2 “I expect you will fail the test” and #3 “I expect it will rain tomorrow”. However, in the first example “I expect” doesn’t make sense: #1″I expect I will sleep now”. “I think” would certainly be most suitable, so is أتوقع really the only option to express this meaning in Saudi dialect or would a word like أعتقد be better: “I think/believe I will sleep now”?
